Within the DSD applications we use the Geo Location of the customer rather than using the address of the customer. For several reasons we find that this yields better navigation and optimisation results
Within our database we have two sets of latitude / longitude for each customer. The first set, which can be accessed in the DSD Connect user interface, allows you to maintain or import the GPS location for the customer. The second set is maintained by the driver from within DSD Van Sales
The easiest way to have your drivers collect the GPS locations of your customers is to have the configuration of your system changed to set GetGPS = 1
With this set, when the driver makes a sale to a customer and presses COMPLETE on the SUMMARY screen, and there is no GPS location for the customer, they are automatically prompted to use the current GPS location as the latitude and longitude of the customer.
Selecting YES on this screen will have the current location of the driver as the driver GPS location of the customer.
